Notability

I feel that the notability policy could do with some tweaks. The current one is at Wikisimpsons:Notability. Any and all criticism will be welcomed. Although, I do stand by the guest star character point there. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:53, 20 February 2012 (EST)

Categories

Categories with only one article in are pointless and unwanted. Some categories may gather more articles over time but a lot won't. The exception to this we have at the moment is that guest stars all have a country category, even if they are the only one in that category. Should this stay the same or should it change? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:53, 20 February 2012 (EST) Some categories are being updated without the Category name, and no "edit" button. See Quotes page for episode The Kid is All Right. No way to add the memorable quotes from this episode. Help!

Unused Templates

We still have a lot of unused templates. Some can be used, some may not be used. If you see any useful templates there, can you please try and use them. I have deleted most of the old, outdated and unneeded templates from there leaving only a few good ones. Thanks, The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 04:26, 1 March 2012 (EST)

I don't about the other, but b should always be substituted, so it shouldn't be used. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:05, 3 March 2012 (EST)
{{blocked}} is substed, cite web/doc is unnecessary, comicstories templates were recently created, so nobody's changed or added them, move may be used later on, on this day templates depends on the month (>_>), WSL and WW may be used later on, and "You Won whatever" templates are substed. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:10, 3 March 2012 (EST)

Wait until the episode airs

Okay, I have seen several character pages created in advance. These are generally for characters who are to appear in a later episode of the season. I think that they should not be created until after the episode airs. Firstly, because they could be considered speculation. The information about the guest star may not be the same for the character for instance. Secondly, it could be false. Look at deadmau5 for instance. We had an article on him and would have assumed he was playing himself. It would have been another bit of false information. Thirdly, the article would be a stub until the episode airs. In some cases, this may be up to a year later. I don't like making stubs unless you absolutely have to.

Just to clarify, guest star articles and episode articles are fine. Appearance articles should however wait until after the episode airs unless characters have been revealed through promo images and episode descriptions. But characters who are to appear in future episodes, as well as locations, media etc. I feel should not have articles until after the episode airs. Many other wikis follow a similar method to this and I feel that it is right. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:56, 17 March 2012 (EDT)

Foreign language pages

I'll get straight to the point, I don't think we should have articles like Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire/German. This is an English wiki for the English show and we shouldn't have separate articles for each country's version of each episode. An article about each country's show is fine, but not each episode. I also don't believe we should have lists like this: List of Die Simpsons episodes. At most, we should have a box at the end of an article listing each country's names for the episode and what they translate to etc. Tell me what you think. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:27, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

I'd agree with the first point, as that information can easily be put on other pages. As for the list, I think the size of some, like the German one, would be too long at the end of the normal page.--Cook879 18:33, 20 April 2012 (EDT)
We don't really need the list of episodes. We can also add a foreign airdate box to episodes as well showing airdates meaning the list pages can go. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 02:21, 2 May 2012 (EDT)
But it doesn't maintain the order.--Cook879 07:13, 2 May 2012 (EDT)
The order doesn't really matter. That is something more for a German wiki, which we have. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 07:29, 2 May 2012 (EDT)
Contextually, dates only make sense if an order is established.--Cook879 12:46, 2 May 2012 (EDT)

SMTP problem

Hi folks! I'm new in this site. However I was editor of Wikipedia a few years ago. I think I can help you with my experience. :-) I registered today and I found a problem. (Sorry if I report it at wrong place.) The verification mail wants to come from a badly configured MTA at 69.72.232.202. The HELO command contains invalid hostname cheetah.cheetah and sender of the mail is also incorrect: <wwwrun@cheetah.cheetah>. I don't think a normal MTA honors such an attempt. Who could fix this? -- 2F13 (talk) 15:13, August 17, 2014 (EDT)

http vs https

I think external links should use secure (https) protocol if possible. E.g. Template:w should point to https://en.wikipedia.org instead of the current http. Another example: when I was anonymous editor I found a copy of Template:Welcomeanon on my talk page that urged me to register but silently redirected me to an unsecure http channel. If you agree I search the templates for possible http→https changes. -- (Gabor)2F13 (talk) 07:09, August 23, 2014 (EDT)

Agree./AleWi (talk) 07:15, August 23, 2014 (EDT)
What's the difference? Might as well change them for now but I can't notice any change using either. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 07:33, August 23, 2014 (EDT)
Changing {{w}} would probably need Solar/Jake to change it. It uses [[wikipedia:]], not a standard external link. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 07:35, August 23, 2014 (EDT)
I've changed the {{welcomeanon}} template to the https link instead. I've also changed Wikipedia's link to https via Special:Interwiki. The welcomeanon template was overlooked when we added https to the site. If there are any others we have overlooked, feel free to change them or bring them up here if you can't. The Solar Dragon 07:47, August 23, 2014 (EDT)

Six other templates are modified. A few further more site are accessible by https but they have certificate problems therefore I left http untouched. I don't want to confuse the readers. :-) --2F13 (talk) 13:55, August 23, 2014 (EDT)

Share button on The Springfield Shopper?

I think we should have a share button under the post at The Springfield Shopper./AleWi (talk) 08:56, January 22, 2015 (EST)

Foreign comics

Okay, I think we need to start a discussion on comics. In particular, foreign comics. I think this is how it should be done:

  • English language comics get articles for the series and each issue. This will include releases in the US, UK and Australia. And any other country with English releases.
  • Foreign countries should just get an article like "Simpsons Comics in Country". This will list the series in the country, how many issues of that series are released etc. but they will not have separate articles for each comic issue.

The reasoning behind this is that this is an English language wiki. Whilst it is okay to have some articles about foreign media, we shouldn't have a whole load of them. The Solar Dragon 07:15, December 7, 2015 (EST)

I agree, not because this is an english wiki, but because they are completely unnecessary. I don't know how the simpsons comics are in other countries, but I think they only were translated in Sweden with no differences. FatHomerTalk 11:47, December 9, 2015 (EST)
I also agree. This is an English language wiki, so it does not make much sense to have articles about Simpsons Comics in Other (non-English Speaking) Countries. And I also agree with FatHomer: the comics in other countries are basically the same english comics translated. / Loco87 (TALK / Contribs) 15:23, December 9, 2015 (EST)
Agreed. —Fred (Talk Contribs.) 07:26, December 11, 2015 (EST)
I also think we should only have one article for foreign countries, not every issues./AleWi (talk) 10:09, December 11, 2015 (EST)
Makes sense to me. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 00:47, December 12, 2015 (EST)
So Solar you mean something like this http://prntscr.com/9dhceg without the link to a comic page article? Dylan - Talk Contribs 18:55, December 12, 2015 (EST)
I've thrown together a quick mock-up here. Of course, more information can be added etc. Any suggestions will be welcomed too. The Solar Dragon 18:58, December 12, 2015 (EST)

List of nudity and semi-nudity

Okay, this has been bugging me for some time. I think it's time to define some proper guidelines about this page. This is what I think should be done about it:

  1. Only nudity is listed. No semi-nudity (no underwear, diapers etc.)
  2. Half nudity should also not be included. No male toplessness for example.
  3. Listing when a buttcrack is shown is not nudity. That happens from time to time in real life too. It's not counted as nudity.

This makes me feel dirty for having to bring all this up... urgh... but this page really needs to be defined properly. The Solar Dragon 07:15, December 7, 2015 (EST)

I created this list based on SNPP, that had the same list. Other user started to adding underwear and diapers later. For me is Solar's idea good./AleWi (talk) 10:09, December 11, 2015 (EST)
Agreed. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 00:51, December 12, 2015 (EST)

Image policy

What's the image policy on fan-made diagrams? Reason I ask is because I was able to rip the HUD maps from Hit & Run but they'd be more informative if I labelled where all the major locations are. --Zenthor (talk) 19:06, January 2, 2016 (EST)

Sorry for the late reply to this. That should be fine, but would it be possible to upload two of each image, one labelled, one clean? The Solar Dragon 14:00, February 17, 2016 (EST)

"Weekly" to-do list

I think we should have an "official" to-do list for every new episode. It would probably help so some pages aren't forgotten to be updated, like the list of chalkboard gags. I've made a list of things to complete here: User:FatHomer/Sandbox. There are probably more things that could be added to it, and you're welcome to edit it if you have anything in mind. FatHomerTalk 12:09, February 17, 2016 (EST)

I'm not too sure on that. If someone wants to update episode articles, go ahead. Having a list won't make people want to. Everyone knows what needs to be done by looking at the articles. The Solar Dragon 14:00, February 17, 2016 (EST)
