Wikisimpsons:Manual of Style

Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki
Revision as of 17:12, December 20, 2014 by Gazlene the Pork Girl (talk | contribs) (Media names in articles: i.e. stands for "in other words". e.g. stands for "for example": [http://grammar-monster.com/easily_confused/eg_ie.htm Source])

This is an instruction manual that addresses the conventions adopted by Wikisimpsons in writing, titles, articles, and linking. Please read it before you contribute to Wikisimpsons.

Article titles

Main article: Wikisimpsons: Naming

The conventions for titles dictate that all proper nouns are capitalized, as are all locations, and names unless specifically not capitalized. Any page title that includes a name should not be stored in a biographical format; i.e., "Homer Simpson", not "Simpson, Homer" as the page title for Bart's Dad. In cases where only a first name (Charlie) exists, that should be used as the sole title of the page.

Media names in articles

Each media type has a different representation:

  • Episodes have speech marks around them, e.g. "Duffless".
  • The Simpsons Movie has italics, as does every other movie and television show.
  • Songs are always in speech marks.
  • Books, games, comics, comic stories are all in Italics.
