The Hollywood Post 43 of the American Legion is a the post 43 of American Legion in Hollywood.

History

As the Simpsons family walks to the Hollywood Bowl, Bart and Lisa repeatedly ask their parents, "Are we at our seats yet?" as they walk up Highland Avenue. One of the buildings they pass is 2035 North Highland Avenue, which is the Memorial Clubhouse of Hollywood American Legion Post 43.

Hollywood Post 43 is a veterans service organization that was formed in October 1919 with members from the Hollywood Ex-Service Men's Club. The Post's first clubhouse was at 1628 North El Centro, where they also had boxing and wrestling at the famous Hollywood Legion Stadium. Profits from the stadium allowed the membership to begin construction on the Highland Avenue site in 1928, and the Memorial Clubhouse opened on July 4, 1929. Its style is described as Egyptian Revival Moroccan Deco, and the building is a tribute to World War I veterans; terra cotta representations of the Division Shields of the Armed Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.) hang across the front.
