References/Trivia

Cultural references

  • Bart's bible stories are references to The Prodigal Son, Abraham's Sacrifice and Noah's Ark.
  • Homer says "Call me, Ishmael!" to his brother, a reference to the opening line from the 1851 novel Moby-Dick.
  • Noah says "You're gonna mess up my ark nevermore!" as he is about to throw a raven. This is a reference to the poem The Raven.

Trivia

  • The plot is similar to the episode Simpsons Bible Stories both of which are anthology stories featuring biblical references. The episode aired in April 1999, two years before this comic was released.
  • Marge mistakenly refers to Noah as Ned.
