References to The Simpsons in Stargate SG-1

  • Jack O'Neill is a big fan of The Simpsons and states that it is important to him. He also tapes many of the episodes.
  • In "Beneath the Surface", when SG-1 have had their memories erased, Jack states that he remembers a bald man who wears short sleeve shirts, who he thinks is called Homer.
  • In "Frozen", O'Neill says "D'oh. I forgot to tape The Simpsons. It's important to me."
  • In "The Lost City, Part 1", O'Neill says "Excellent" like Mr. Burns and says that he is like Goa'uld to which Teal'c says that they are only animated characters. O'Neill also states that his entire VHS collection of The Simpsons is going to Siler when he dies.
  • In "Citizen Joe", Joe states that he understands the Mr. Burns as Goa'uld analogy.
  • In "Moebius, Part 1", Jack's boat is named "Homer" in the alternate time line, probably named after Homer Simpson. Homer is also written in Simpsons font. In Part 2, Jack's line "close enough" may be a reference to "Treehouse of Horror V" which also featured a time travel section where reality was changed.
