Cultural References

  • The title is a reference to the Disney film "Bedknobs and Broomsticks", which was previously parodied in another episode title, "Mypods and Boomsticks".
  • Bart, Lisa and Maggie play "Bonk It"! in the car. Bonk it! is a parody of "Bop It!".
  • Lisa goes online to "Wiccapedia", a parody of Wikipedia. The home page and logo are similar to those of Wikipedia.
  • The split screen montage featuring Homer and Cletus drinking moonshine is a reference to the film "Sideways", and recreates some of its most memorable scenes.
  • The song played at the end of the episode when Lisa is skating is "Season of the Witch".

Trivia

  • Ignis' middle name is Dionysus. This may be a reference to people always getting Hephaestus and Dionysus mixed up.
  • "Ignis" means "fire" in Latin, which ironically, is Ignis' skill.
  • The Granger Mother has a friend named Agnes (Ignis is named after her)
  • Winston and Charles (real name is Churchill) is a reference to Winston Churchill.
  • Winston and Charles' middle names, Abraham and Lincoln, is a reference to Abraham Lincoln
  • Andromeda is a galaxy, ironically founded by Astrid (Andromeda Astrid Granger is her real name)
  • "Astrid" means "star" in Latin
  • Hestia is the goddess of the home, originally a 12th Olympian. This is similar to Hestia's choice to sacrifice her powers
  • Athene is another name for Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Charles, unintentionally, reveals that Hestia is very, very smart
  • Granger is a reference to Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series.
