• The title of the short is a reference to the phrase "date with destiny".
• The short opens with Homer's face and donuts looking similar to the Mickey Mouse logo, before transitioning with Homer holding two donuts, which he then eats. The title card also reads "Disney welcomes The Simpsons".
  • The Gracie Films logo also replaced the head of a man with a head of Mickey Mouse, referrencing Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox.
