Homer ends up stealing a pig in this episode, causing a disaster as a result. Ironically, Homer would in the future acquire a pet Pig that causes a disaster in The Simpsons Movie.
According to the Simpsons Guide to America's Favorite Family, Homer did attempt to apply to College in his youth, but he ended up forsaking the application to College by running outside to fight with a dog for a piece of Ham.
