D'oh-lice Academy is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #210.

Synopsis

"When an archaic town statute is enacted by City Hall, Homer Simpson and Chief Clancy Wiggum find themselves on the receiving end of an unexpected career switcheroo. Will this dramatic power shift cause life-altering changes in Springfield when the two donut-loving deadbeats take on each other's deliciously do-nothing jobs? Um... not really."

Plot

Homer is in the Krustyburger dunk tank and Krusty calls the police to get him out of the tank. The tank is filled with Krusty Kola, and Homer holds his breath while he is in the tank. The tank is destroyed and the police are about to arrest Homer when Hollis Hurlbut says that according to the town charter, Homer is the new chief of police after setting the new record for breath-holding, which leads to Clancy Wiggum being fired. Homer likes his job as police chief. On his first day, when Homer stops a speeder and finds out it is Rainer Wolfcastle, he hires him as an officer. Clancy needs a new job and is hired as the safety inspector at Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Homer is popular among both his colleagues and the city's politicians. When Homer realizes that he is not stopped any crime, he decides, after a family dinner, that he will become the best police chief ever.

Homer makes a crackdown on Fat Tony, and soon he has arrested all the criminals in Springfield. Clancy, meanwhile, does a good job as the safety inspector at the plant. Homer has trouble finding criminals in Springfield, so he visits the power plant because something is always happening there. When Homer takes the police there and opens a forbidden door, he spreads out a poison gas. Clancy approaches and holds his breath while he stops the poison gas. Clancy hits Homer's record and becomes chief of police again. Homer gets his old job back, but soon helps Bart with a new record that gives him the job as principal.
