The Rough Riders are a group of Bart's classmates at Springfield Elementary.
History
When Chalmers is put in charge of Bart's education, he sparks a fascination in President Roosevelt. He takes Bart's band of "Rough Riders" on an overnight excursion to Springfield Forest, but Chalmers is fired after the school board find out about the unauthorized trip, which caused an accident. The Rough Riders then take the school hostage until Chalmers is reinstated.
