Rocky III vs. Clara Peller is an arcade game, seen in Captain Blip's Zapateria at Springfield Mall.

History

Rocky III vs. Clara Peller is an arcade game seen at Captain Blip's Zapateria. The game is played as a boxing match with the only playable characters being Rocky Balboa (controlled by player 1) and Clara Peller (controlled by player 2). While walking through the arcade, Bart stops to inspect the game. He watches what would appear to be a title screen, in which the two characters move back and forth inside a boxing ring while continuosly spouting the same bits of dialogue, with Rocky saying "You ain't so bad," and Clara Peller asking "Where's the beef?"

Behind the Laughter

The game is a reference to the the Rocky series, specifically Rocky III. Clara Peller asking "Where's the beef?" is a reference to the infamous and short-lived catchphrase, which was used in a variety of Wendy's commercials in the mid 80s.
