Fred Thompson was a candidate in the Presidential election of 2008.
Thompson visited the Simpson home after he found out that they had not yet decided who they were going to vote for. However, Homer threw Thompson out of the house because he had appeared in Die Hard 2 rather than the original Die Hard movie.
