Genre: Sitcom

Black President is a classic sitcom. Its reruns are aired on Tube Town.

The storyline of Black President centers around the title character, a black President of the United States whose hip-hop attitude annoys his advisors. The show's original airdates aren't known, but are most likely in the 1980s.

Behind the Laughter

  • Black President is most likely a parody of Benson, which originally aired from 1979 to 1986. In Benson, the title character, African-American Benson DuBois, starts out working in the governor's mansion as the director of household affairs, but over the run of the show works his way up the ladder to become the lieutenant governor.
  • Black President might also be a parody of Hail to the Chief, a sitcom about a woman President of the United States. It had a very short broadcast run, lasting for only seven episodes in 1985.
  • The show is possibly a homage to Barack Obama, the USA's first African-American (black) president.
