History

Lacking skills and unable to remember any training—since he had never paid attention to it—he desperately chose a button using eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Miraculously, Homer pressed the button that stopped the meltdown; Springfield was saved, and Homer was honored as a hero.[1]
Smithers later mentioned to Mr. Burns past events involving Homer and his family, including how Homer saved the plant from a meltdown.[2]
