José Canseco was the outfielder/designated hitter for the Oakland Athletics (1985–1992, 1997), the Texas Rangers (1992–1994), the Boston Red Sox (1995–1996), the Toronto Blue Jays (1998), the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1999–2000), the New York Yankees (2000), and the Chicago White Sox (2001).

He appeared as himself in The Simpsons episode "Homer at the Bat".
