Comic Story information

Moat Monty Moat Problems! is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #224.
Synopsis[edit]
- "As if a pack of vicious dogs was not enough, Mr. Burns decides to build a moat around his palatial estate to discourage unwanted visitors. And when the Simpsons' car goes into the shop for repairs, their fully loaded, loaner hybrid makes them the envy of everyone in Springfield! It's part medieval throwback, part near future fantasy, and all-out hilarious!"
Plot[edit]
Homer crashes his car into the movie screen at a drive-in theater and leaves the car at the workshop. He gets a loaner car that runs on solar power and vegetable oil. Homer is hesitant about the car, but Lisa loves it. Mr. Burns is visited by Gil, who tells him to make a moat around his mansion. Homer discovers that the car made him popular, and Marge is invited to the town society party. Gil has built the moat using the hose from the orphanage and let it run out of water. It turns out that Mr. Burns' moat attracts swimmers, which does not make Burns happy. Marge starts to love the car when it gets Homer to lose weight when she drives it, because it smells like donuts and he follows the scent.
Gil has ordered piranhas for the moat, but he had the wrong order and ended up with trout, and the inhabitants begin to go fishing instead. Bart is popular with the school bullies because the car has a built in video game system. Gil has ordered crocodiles, but they would rather live inside the mansion, so Burns must move out to a boat in the moat. Some time later, the Simpsons' old car is all fixed up. Homer reluctantly leaves the car and gets back his old car. Homer makes a few es to his old car, such as installing a TV in the front of the back seat. Family goes for a test drive with their old car. Homer has forgotten to protect the generator he sat in to operate the TV from becoming overheated, and it explodes and he crashes the car into the moat. Burns is happy that the moat stopped them from reaching the house, and tries to thank Gil but he has fled after Burns' dog ripped his pants off. Homer leaves the car in the workshop again, but they are out of loaner cars so the family rents unicycles instead. Gil then gets arrested for not wearing pants.
