Cultural references[edit]

  • Moon-Cow is a reference to the nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle", in particular the line "the cow jumped over the moon".
  • This story is a parody of the Captain Atom story "The Little Wanderer" by Joe Gill and Steve Ditko from Charlton Comics' Space Adventures #35, where a boy travels through space while dreaming and Captain Atom has to revive him.
  • The show Danny is watching, Strange Suspense Stories, is named after the Charlton comic book. The episode of the show, "The Silver Lady From Venus", is named after the title of a Captain Atom story from Space Adventures #42. "The Silver Lady from Venus" was later reprinted in Strange Suspense Stories #77.
