- The first story is The Ant and the Grasshopper.
- The second story is The Fox and the Grapes.
- Santa's Little Helper losing his bone in the water is a reference to The Dog and Its Reflection.
- The wind and sun making a bet for Bart to take his coat off is a reference to The North Wind and the Sun.
- Bart betting on the tortoise to win against the hare is a reference to The Tortoise and the Hare.
- Bart calling out "It's a Wolfman!" and people not believing him is a reference to The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
- Dracula appears at the end.
