Movie Information
Genre: Comedy

Hail to the Chimp! is a movie shown at the Springfield Drive-In. Its plot is based around a monkey president of the USA.

Plot

As only a few scenes are shown, the plot is hard to piece together. The first scene shows two officials complaining to the president about his report, which is full of technical jargon and partizan rhetoric. The chair the president is sitting on turns round, revealing him to be a chimp, and he beats the officials up. The second scene shows the president jumping out of a burning plane which looks to resemble Air Force One.

Behind the Laughter

  • The movie's title is a pun on the patriotic song "Hail to the Chief".
  • The real-life video game Hail to the Chimp was named for this movie.
  • The novel Breakfast of Champions (1973) by Kurt Vonnegut references a fictional short story called "Hail to the Chief" which features a Chimpanzee who becomes President of the United States, written by the fictional author Kilgore Trout. Lisa is shown to be a fan of Vonnegut's work in later episodes.
