Maggie's Crib is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #74.
Synopsis[edit]
Maggie dials back her artistic skills to fit in with the other babies at the Day Care Center.
Plot[edit]
Marge drops Maggie off at the day care and then leaves, presumably to run some errands. The day care teacher sets the babies up to do some painting: she brings out a stack of easels, attaches paper to them, and hands out paints. Maggie briefly contemplates her blank piece of paper and then gets to work. In short order, she produces a masterful painting of a vase full of flowers which resembles van Gogh's works. Now finished, Maggie looks around to see what the other babies have done, and with increasing consternation she notices that they've all either done crude drawings or randomly smeared paints on their papers. Maggie turns back to her paper and starts smearing her own paints, transforming the painting from a vase full of flowers to an assortment of green and yellow smears.
By now, all of the babies have finished with their paintings. The teacher applauds everyone's work, and the babies (including Maggie) smile back at her.
