The Gassy Knoll is a gas station that is often visited by truckers.

History

After Homer decided to drive Red Barclay's shipment to Atlanta, he and Bart were behind schedule, needing to drive 2200 miles in 10 hours. In order to get there on time, Homer took a bottle of pep pills so he could drive all night. However, because he had also taken a bottle of sleeping pills to "balance it all out", he eventually fell asleep at the wheel. The truck then proceeded to drive itself, stopping Homer and Bart from driving through a guard rail and down a cliff. The truck then drove itself to The Gassy Knoll.

As he awoke the next morning at gas station he related his amazing tale to two truckers. Not surprised in the least, the truckers explained to Homer that the Navitron Autodrive systems installed in the trucks allow the vehicles to drive themselves. The two men then threatened Homer to keep quiet and not spill their secret.
