The Murder Party is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #201.
Synopsis[edit]
- "Marge hosts a dinner party with murder on the menu. That is, she's hosting a murder mystery dinner party — but one of her guests may very well have murder on his or her mind! Well, she didn't necessarily invite the would-be murderer to the party, that might make her an accessory to the crime, but you get the picture!"
Plot[edit]
Marge is hosting a murder mystery dinner party. Marge has given all the guests their roles and the questions they should ask. Marge has hired Monsieur Grenouille as the gamemaster. Bart thinks he recognizes him, but is not sure where. Before they begin to solve the mystery, Marge tells Grenouille that everyone has the weapons and she has the fog machine that he asked for. Grenouille begins to remove all phones from the guests before they start the game. To start the game, Grenouille says that everyone is a detective with clues and information to share, but one person is the killer and the one who manages to figure it out gets Marge's pie. Marge says that everyone gets a pie. Sarah and Clancy have brought Ralph with them and he also wants to be in the game, so Marge lets him play the actor who was found murdered in the swimming pool, which he likes. Grenouille gives the guests notebooks and the play begins, and Bart tries to figure out where he's seen Grenouille before.
The guests begin to question each other and take notes. When Bart gets questioned by Clancy, he discovers that Grenouille spiked the punch with something. Bart confronts Grenouille and asks what he put in the punch, but he claims that he did not put anything in it. Bart runs to Barney and tells him that the punch is spiked. Barney tells all the guests and they start drinking it despite Bart's warnings. The guests who drink the punch fall into a deep sleep. Bart and Lisa turn on the fan and shut off the fog machine. The fog on the floor disappears and they discover that Grenouille has big feet and as he takes off his mask, he is revealed to be Sideshow Bob. Sideshow Bob then takes a pistol which he received from Marge and fires it, but it turns out to be a water pistol. He tests the other weapons but they also turn out to be fake. Bart then takes one of the phones that Bob took and tries to call the police. Ralph didn't drink the punch and walks around as a ghost. Bob then takes Ralph and threatens to kill him unless Bart stops ringing. Bart stops calling and Lisa runs away and turns off the house's electricity for a few seconds, which is enough time for Bart to tie a string around Bob's feet and make him trip. Lisa comes with Maggie, who starts throwing food at Bob so he cannot get up. The guests wake up and Clancy arrests Bob. Marge is happy that they caught a bad guy, but they have not solved the mystery yet. Lisa realizes that they didn't talk to Bart, so Marge asks him what he did and she realizes that he has no alibi so he was the killer. Marge wins the game and she begins to think about what happened to the real Grenouille. It turns out that Grenouille is stuck on a horse-drawn carriage riding through the country.
