I was able to confirm this by going to the power company's web site. The problem was resolved just after 2 am, at which time I went to sleep. Since then, there seem to have been several intermittent power outages. These power outages seem to be causing only network problems, as the server itself has remained online through all of them according to its [http://imageftw.com/uploads/20120304/power_outages.png network graphs]. (The four gaps are the power outages.)
