Song Information
Singers: Mark Hamill
Characters: Mark Hamill
Length: 20 seconds
Appearance(s): "Mayored to the Mob"

"Luke, Be a Jedi" is a song that Mark Hamill sang in the Springfield Dinner Theater's production of Guys and Dolls.

Background

Mark Hamill was playing the part of main character Nathan Detroit. However, at the director's insistence, he was doing the role as Luke Skywalker. In spite of Hamill's objections, the director had him wearing Luke's farmer outfit, carrying a lightsaber prop, and, instead of "Luck, Be a Lady", singing "Luke, Be a Jedi".

Lyrics

Mark Hamill:
Luke, be a Jedi tonight!
Just be a Jedi tonight!
Hamill & Chorus:
Do it for Yoda, while we serve our guests a soda.
Hamill:
Uh, and do it for Chewie, and the Ewoks, and all the other puppets ...
Hamill & Chorus:
Luke, be a Jedi tonight!

Behind the Laughter

  • "Luke, Be a Jedi" is an obvious parody of "Luck, Be a Lady" from Guys and Dolls.
