References/Trivia

Cultural references

  • The name of the comic is most likely a reference to Hail to the Chief.
  • Bart references the 1964 film Mothra vs. Godzilla, although he says it as "Godzilla vs. Mothra" (which was the title of a different later film).
  • The part where Homer says "That larva's one bad moth-" with Marge replying "Shut your mouth!" could possibly be a reference to the cult movie "Shaft".

Trivia

Goofs

  • When the British close in on the Springfieldians cowering in town square, David Beckham has Arnold Rimmer's colors.
  • Bart makes three mistakes when referencing the 1964 film "Mothra vs. Godzilla".
    • He says the title is "Godzilla vs. Mothra" when it should be the other way round.
    • He says that Mothra attacked Tokyo city hall, however no such scene happened.
    • Finally, he calls Mothra "he" even though the Mothra from that film was female.
