Trivia
- The statue of the man riding a horse says "Swartzwelder," which is the name of one of The Simpsons' writers.
- We learn that Maggie's real name is Margaret.
- When Child Protective Services races out to rescue Bart and Lisa, they run over a child's tricycle.
- In the commentary it says that the Child Protective Services Male was based on a teacher they had,
- In the original airing Milhouse mentioned the box with the infected monkey came from Pier 1 Imports. Because this joke offended the people at Pier 1, it was edited in the syndicated version to a fictional company Trader Pete's. In the DVD releases, the Pier 1 reference is kept in, though the subtitles state it as Trader Pete's.
Cultural references
- Maggie's head turns 180 degrees a la The Exorcist. Maggie's head also spun around more than a normal range of motion in Treehouse of Horror.
Goofs
- When Ned is going to baptise the Simpson children, Bart is wearing a white gown instead of a tux.
- When Principal Skinner burns Bart's clothes, Bart is not wearing his underwear.
