Talk pages should not have the comments removed or be blanked. Instead, they should be archived. This is moving the current page to a new location, normally Talk:Y/Archive X or for user talk pages User talk:Y/Archive X Where Y is the article/user name and X is the archive number.
Archiving a page
- Click on the move button.
- Rename the page Talk:Y/Archive X or for user talk pages User talk:Y/Archive X Where Y is the article/user name and X is the archive number.
- Remake the old page, adding in the Talkheader and any other talk page templates.
- Link to the archive in some way.
