New Girl in Town is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #75.

Synopsis[edit]

Bart and Nelson fight over the new girl in school, but something tells us they are not being sincere.

Plot[edit]

Bart's class gets a new student, Janet Diddlehopper. After the boys behave badly around her on her first day, Mrs. Krabappel decides to give an A to whoever takes her to the Arbor Day Box Social. Martin immediately asks Janet if she is interested in Intergalactic Spaceship Quest, because he owns it on DVD. Bart then tries to impress her, claiming that he is the key part of the school's personalty and asks her to go to the dance with him, but Nelson tells her that his mom's boyfriend has a Harley Davidson after asking if she likes motorcycles.

Bart and Nelson then start fighting over who gets to take Janet to the dance. Nelson shows how strong he is by lifting nerds. Martin tries again and tells her more about his DVD box set, but Bart shows off his skateboarding skills. Nelson shows how good he is at arm wrestling and Bart gives her an extra lunch, but then Nelson gives her the geeks' finished homework.

The next day, the students find out from the morning announcements that Nelson sleeps with a teddy bear named Mr. Frou Frou. Nelson becomes angry and attempts to beat up Bart, but Janet stops the fight and tells them that she has decided who she wants to dance with, and asks them both to come to the dance. Nelson and Bart wait for Janet and argue over why Janet would choose just them, but after a while she comes with Martin, who is her cavalier because she likes Intergalactic Spaceship Quest and he was the only one who had something she liked.

Nelson and Bart are surprised because Martin did not need extra credit, but he tells them that he now feels more alive. Ham and Database walk by with their dates, Sherri and Terri, and laugh at Bart and Nelson because they don't have dates. Milhouse passes by and tells Nelson and Bart that it's good that Janet is comfortable with her new school, but Bart and Nelson become angry and push him away after they tell him that he does not know anything about girls.
