Synopsis[edit]
- "Waylon Smithers, Mr. Burns' long-suffering, lovestruck sycophant, is about to turn the tables on his longtime companion and employer with a brand new "take-charge" attitude. Oh, did we forget to mention... he gets struck by lightning!"
Plot[edit]
Homer is driving a truck carrying nuclear waste, but he has no control over it so he runs into Waylon Smithers. Mr. Burns has a coffee stain on his pants and borrows Smithers pants wear to a press conference, so Smithers does not have his pants on during the conference. Smithers does not care about it until he discovers that his colleagues are making fun of him and it is all over the internet. That evening Smithers has trouble concentrating when he is with his Malibu Stacy dolls, so he goes for a long walk and gets struck by the lightning. The flash alters Smithers, who makes off with his dolls and is afraid that his coworkers will make fun of him again. He refuses to do the task Burns asks him to do, so Burns gives him chores to do instead. The next day, Smithers visits Dr. Hibbert because he does not recognize himself anymore, so Hibbert tells him what happened: when he was struck by lightning, it changed his personality. Smithers alters the plant and their stock increases. Aristotle Amadopolis visits the plant and tells Smithers that he bought the company's shares, and allows Smithers to become the new CEO. As a result, Burns loses his power plant.
Burns has become a pauper and lost everything in his mansion when Smithers visits him later. Smithers sees that Burns misses his old life and decides to do something about it. The next day, Smithers gives Homer the job of chief operations officer, and a cat gets his old job. Homer enjoys his promotion, and participates extensively in the media, where he embarrasses the company. This causes the shares to plummet, and Amadopolis sells his shares. Smithers dismisses Homer from his work and visits Burns to tell him what he has done. When Smithers visits Burns, everything is as it was before. Burns says he was only pretending the last time Smithers visited him, and he knew he would get Smithers to give him the opportunity to buy the company. Smithers is happy that Burns is back. The next day, it turns out that the power plant is populated by cats and Smithers thinks the cat had a litter of kittens, but it turns out that Homer and Bart brought in the other cats. Smithers ensures that the cats disappear at the behest of Burns, and re-hires Homer.
