Gary Busey shows the film during his film Get Out of My Dreams and Also Out of My Car: A Guide to Your Restraining Order. After the film, Gary Busey said that Joe was based on him and that Mary was based on a mixture of 12 women and a film company who couldn't deal with him as he was too real.

Joe Spaghettio fell in love with a girl called Mary at a party, however Mary doesn't like him.
