The '''sixteeenth season''' of ''[[The Simpsons]]'' began on November 7, 2004 with "[[Treehouse of Horror XV]]", and ended on May 15, 2005 with "[[The Father, the Son and the Holy Guest Star]]". The season contained twenty-one episodes, all of which were released on [[The Complete Sixteenth Season|DVD and Blu-ray]] in December 2013.

This season, [[Alf Clausen]] was nominated for the Outstanding Individual Achievement in Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore) for "[[Treehouse of Horror XV]]",<ref>[http://www.emmys.org/awards/awardsearch.php Emmy Awards]</ref> and "[[Future-Drama]]" was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming less than One Hour).
