'''Serak the Preparer''' is a [[Rigellian]]. His job is to cook meals on board their [[UFO|spaceship]].

== History ==
A cohort of [[Kang]] and [[Kodos]], Serak prepared meals for the [[Simpson family]] while they were on their way to [[Rigel 4]]. When Serak introduced himself to the Simpsons, he said that in order to pronounce his name correctly, the speaker's tongue would need to be pulled out.

Serak cooked sumptuous meals for the Simpsons and was very meticulous about making sure the humans' food would have the perfect flavor. [[Lisa]], however, overheard Serak talking to himself at the stove and found his [[How to Cook for Forty Humans|cookbook]]. Between Serak's comments and dust on the cookbook making the title appear to be ''How to Cook Humans'', Lisa incorrectly concluded that the aliens were planning to eat the Simpsons.

Lisa confronted the aliens and showed them the cookbook, but Kang debunked her claim by blowing the dust off of the cookbook and revealing its title to be ''[[How to Cook for Forty Humans]]''. All of the aliens were upset at the accusation, but Serak took it particularly hard, crying and saying, "I slaved in the kitchen for days for you people. And ..." but was unable to say anything else through his sobs. Kang then stood up for Serak, sarcastically saying to Lisa, "Well, if you wanted to make Serak the Preparer cry, mission accomplished." After being consoled by Kang, Serak regained enough of his composure to say reproachfully to Lisa, "You aren't the only beings who have emotions, you know."<ref>"[[Treehouse of Horror]]"</ref>

While Serak was away, he lent another of his cookbooks, ''[[To Serve Man]]'', to Kodos so that she and Kang would be able to eat something other than take-out food while he was gone. Kodos attempted to make [[Boys and berry pie]] with [[Blarch bile]] on the side. Even though Kodos followed the directions exactly, the recipe didn't work out and Kang ended up calling [[Speedy Pizza]] instead (intending to eat the delivery boy).<ref>''[[Cooking with Kang and Kodos]]''</ref>

== Behind the Laughter ==
*The name Serak was obviously derived from ''[[Star Trek]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s character Sarek (the father of Spock), just as the names Kang and Kodos are also names taken from the original ''Star Trek''.
