Movie Information
|
The Planet from Outer Space is a black-and-white science fiction film about people on a spacecraft. It is shown by Rain Delay Theatres.
Plot[edit]
A spacecraft has been attacked by some sort of force ray and everyone starts choking because of the "space air flooding in". The captain tells the crew to put their goggles on, which after a few seconds allows them to breathe normally. With the crisis past, the captain lights a cigarette and looks through the periscope. To his shock, he finds that they're on a collision course with a "monster from space", which is actually a dog on a cable in a spacesuit.
Reactions[edit]
Lisa was appalled about the monster from space being a dog in a spacesuit. Bart didn't mind and looked closely at the dog to determine which gender it was.

Behind the Laughter[edit]
- The Planet from Outer Space is a spoof of sci-fi movies in general from the 1930s to the 1950s, when science fiction movies were stereotypically known for bad acting and poor special effects.
- The movie's title is probably a pun on Plan 9 from Outer Space, a black-and-white sci-fi/horror film which was made in 1959 and is widely considered to be the worst movie ever made.
