Movie Information

Gone with the Wind is a classic film starring Clark Gable, based on the the book of the same name by Margaret Mitchell. An edited version for seniors was shown at Springfield Retirement Castle.

History

In the verison they showed at the Springfield Retirement Castle, Scarlett O'Hara asked Rhett Butler where she would go and what she would do. Rick told her he loved her, and said they should remarry, with the film abruptly ending there.

The edits were noticeable to both Bart and Hans Moleman, though the rest of the seniors praised the "lovely ending". A shocked Bart proclaimed "they cut out the best word", while Moleman wondered if the film used to have a war in it, to which two members of staff quickly dragged him out of the room.[1]

In the montage of kisses when Nikki did CPR on Bart was a scene from Gone with the Wind where Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara were kissing.[2]

Trivia

A tell-tale sign of the movie being edited is when Rhett suggests remarrying, as his lips don't move.
