Faking the Band is a comic story in Simpsons Comics #59. It was released in June 2001. It was also featured in the book Simpsons Comics Barn Burner and in Simpsons Classics #30. In the UK it was released in The Best of The Simpsons #34.

Plot

Homer realizes that he can make money from boy bands and decides to start one, the members consisting of Bart, Nelson, Rod, Ralph and Roy. But there is a problem when only one member of his boy band can sing - Ralph. Nigel, the manager of the group, decides to overcome this by recording Raplh's voice on five different harmonies and the band is named 5 From 'Field. Martin is the only person who figures out the band is fake and challenges them to perform live at Springfield Elementary. Immediately before the performance, Ralph announces he is quitting the band for a solo career. Soon after, everything returns to normal except for Rod who is still enjoying his publicity.
