Thicker than Waters is a family sitcom that was popular in the 1980s. It was written by David Mamet.
Thicker than Waters is known for its sensible father character who runs a dental practice out of his house. When Homer saw reruns of the show, he became obsessed with it and patterned his parenting style after it, much to Bart's chagrin.
