BBC Two is a British public service broadcaster owned by BBC, which broadcast The Simpsons from November 1996 until May 2004. It broadcast the first 248 episodes of the show, minus "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson".

The first episode to air on BBC2 was "There's No Disgrace Like Home", on November 24, 1996; the last episode to air on the channel being "Behind the Laughter", on May 7, 2004 at 6pm, gathering 1.69 million viewers.

In June 2000, the channel aired two documentaries as part of a "Simpsons Night": The Simpsons: America's First Family, about the origins of the show, and My Wasted Life, an insight into Matt Groening and how he came to create The Simpsons. In 2002, the costs of purchasing new episodes rose too high, and the BBC were disinclined to pay for further episodes. The rights were handed over to Channel 4 that year.

Initially it was shown on a Tuesday evening at 6pm, with a double bill on a Friday evening, also at 6pm, with Friday's episodes repeated on a Sunday afternoon, it was later extended to all five working days in the week.

On July 5, 2015, the channel broadcast the Family Guy crossover episode "The Simpsons Guy", due to them having the rights for Family Guy.

Over the course of the show airing on BBC2, it averaged around 3 million viewers per episode,[1] achieving once a peak of 4.58 million during October 1998.[2]
