Cultural references[edit]

  • The comic is loosely based on the production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which was famous for having the longest-running preview period of any Broadway musical.
  • U-Turn, a boy band who helps with the production of the Radioactive Man musical are also a parody of U2. Bono and The Edge from U2 wrote the songs for the Spider-Man musical. Similarly, musical director/choreographer Juliet Pirouette is a parody of musical director Julie Taylor.
