It's In The Cards
Homer, Lenny and Carl are eating lunch when Lenny notices from an advertisement in the newspaper that the Springfield Isotopes will be giving away cheap beer during their game. Meanwhile, Milhouse notices the same ad, but is more interested in the free baseball cards that will be given away to the first 500 attenders. Bart hardly cares about this, but decides to go if he gets to skip class. Back at the Power Plant, Homer tapes a picture onto the camer to make it look like he is still at work, but he accidentally puts it on upside down. Him, Lenny and Carl then head over to the game, but must be back in time to clock out.
Bart and Milhouse then run through the halls and accidentally bump into Lisa. She learns about them planning to cut class, but doesn't do anything about it, hoping their guilt will overpower them, which it doesn't. Milhouse and Bart arrrive to the game, claim their cards and meet player Big Bill McCloskey. They get his autograph and he tricks them into calling player Willy Dipkin "fishface." The prank leads to Bart and Milhouse getting ejected from the game. As revenge, Bart quickly writes something on Dipkin's bat and him and Milhouse leave while Dipkin is getting his picture taken.
Meanwhile, Homer, Lenny and Carl are at the stadium waiting for the game to start. Homer falls asleep after drinking an oversized Duff. When he wakes up, the game has been done for an hour and he must get back to the Plant by 5:00 to clock out. Back at the Power Plant, Mr. Smithers and Mr. Burns decide to look at the many surveillance tvs. They notice that the Homer is upside down and get the tvs checked out, while the real Homer races to get back. The surveillance crew then heads over to check out the camera and he runs in just as they enter.Homer makes it in time, but doesn't notice the picture fall off and turn off the power to Subgrid 17 Zone III. This causes many frozen-snack refrigerators to turn off.
The next day, half of the teachers at Springfield Elementary receive the tainted snacks and eat them. They receive food poisoning and substitute teachers are forced to fill in for them for the rest of the week. Lisa's new teacher is very strict on her, while Bart's is easygoing, but pressures Bart to express his creativity. Both children are sad at what is happening. Meanwhile, the school's art's and craft's show approaches. Bart brings in a stick, hoping his new teacher will interpret it in some way, but he apparently copied off Marcel Duchamp's Lisa brings in a sand casting which represents many races and cultures joining hands, but her teacher misinterprets it as an anti-multicultural theme. Nonetheless, she still receives an A. After the show, Marge says the kids should just try their best and not care what others think
During this conversation, the health department is shown carrying the vending machine with the bad snacks in it. They blow it up, disposing the snacks.
At school the next morning, the new baseball cards have arrived, one of which is Willy Dipkin. It is revealed that Bart wrote "fishface" on his bat. As a result, the cards got pulled off the market and only a few got out, making them rare. The original teachers arrive back and everything is back to normal.
