David Mirkin is an American writer, director and producer, best known for his work on The Simpsons, on which he is one of the current writers. He served as showrunner for the fifth and sixth seasons, and also helped write the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie, and wrote such episodes as "Deep Space Homer". He was born in Philadelphia and attended Loyola Marymount University. His other works include writing for Three's Company and Newhart. He created the TV series Get a Life, and worked on The Edge and The Larry Sanders Show. Mirkin also directed two feature films Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and Heartbreakers.
