Cultural references
- The story's title is a pun on the 1986 comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- Ralph tells the suicidal man to "Fish or get off the pot", misquoting the expression "Fish or cut bait" and merging it with "Get off the pot", both of which are encouragements to hurry up and make a decision and act on it.
Goofs
- On Page 7, panel 2, the suicidal man laughs at Ralph's joke. There is a speech bubble that says "'Fish or Get Off the Pot?' To someone about to--?!". Below, at the man's feet, is some text that is not in a speech bubble. The text isn't entirely visible due to part of it appearing over a black background, but between the portion that is visible and the context of the conversation, it's clear that the man is saying "That's the funniest thing I ever heard!" In the next panel, the man, still laughing, jumps down from the railing back onto the sidewalk, thanks Ralph and says "I think I just needed a good laugh".
