Cultural references
- The song "Mambo No. 5" is referenced throughout the strip.
- Lou Bega's 1999 cover of the song is playing on the radio when the alarm clock wakes Homer up.
- Homer complains, "Marge, there's a Cuban stuck in the clock!", referencing the song's original 1949 instrumental version by Cuban musician Pérez Prado.
- Homer sings the song all day long, making up his own lyrics when he forgets the lyrics from Bega's version.
- Bega calls Homer and offers him a million dollars to never sing the song again. Homer decides they don't need the money and continues singing the song.
