Mimi Pond is a fictional writer and cartoonist. She wrote "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" in 1989, however she never actually existed. She is just a pseudonym used by the producers of the show for the first episode.

Mimi Pond is a cartoonist and writer who has written and illustrated five humor books. Her work has appeared in magazines and newspapers nationally for over 25 years. She was a friend of cartoonist Matt Groening when he asked her to write an episode of the Simpsons. She is in no way fictional.
