Trivia[edit]

  • When Bart makes a dash for his house, saying "if I can just make it home, the contest is over", Editor Nathan Kane inserts a note stating that "obviously Bart is playing by the Reform rules that were enacted in the late eighties". Apparently, there is a mistletoe kissing variant rule to the effect that an unwilling potnetial kiss recipient can be relieved of the obligation to provide a kiss if s/he can make it home without being kissed. The only generally recognized custom, however, is to pluck one berry from a mistletoe sprig each time a kiss takes place under it, and after all the berries are gone, there is no further obligation to kiss under it.
