WatchTheSimpsonsOnline, also known as wtso.net and wtso.tv, was a streaming website for The Simpsons episodes, launched in 2008.

Description[edit]

The website featured 24 seasons and some of the shorts from The Tracy Ullman Show in 1987, as well as The Simpsons Movie, which came out in 2007. It also catered for fans of the Simpsons Comics, with 134 full length comics.

The website was merely a host that linked to and embedded various video sources of episodes around the Internet. These sources could either be viewed on the website or at the original website the video was uploaded to.

Lawsuit and closure[edit]

Throughout October 2013, FOX started to file copyright infringements against the website. On October 9, two lawyers from FOX, two IT professionals, and a forensic specialist searched the house of the admin and seized all electronic devices and related equipment. The FOX lawyers handed over a lawsuit for $10.5 million to the admin.

The admin was later given an option to settle for $1 million. A few days later, the site was shut down after 5 years of service. However, court cases are still ongoing.
