Richard Starkey, better known by his stage name, Ringo Starr, is an English musician who is most famous for being the drummer in The Beatles.
History
Ringo Starr became The Beatles' drummer in 1962, replacing Pete Best. Although Starr's primary role with the band was drummer, he sang lead vocals on at least one song on each studio album, such as "Yellow Submarine" and With a Little Help from My Friends." Starr's unusual turns of phrase, which the other band members came to call "Ringoisms," tended to find their way into song lyrics. Starr eventually tried his hand at composing, and is credited as the sole songwriter for "Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden."
