Country status[edit]
- Technically, the Falkland Islands aren't a country, but an archipelago (group of islands) located to the east of South America. Josegiraffio 10:08, 27 December 2011 (EST)
- There are many things that don't really count as countries on our template, but I think we risk over complicating things by categorizing everything specifically. As well as countries there are:
- Continents:
- British Overseas Territories:
- Autonomous communities of Spain:
- Partly recognized, non-UN member/observer, countries:
- French Polynesian (and in turn French) islands:
- Autonomous regions of the People's Republic of China:
- To a lesser extent, constituent countries:
- Aruba, The Netherlands (Kingdom of the Netherlands)
- England, Scotland (United Kingdom)
- And of course the fictional lands of:
So, I think we need to consider how specific we want to make things before doing any changes.
P.S. that took longer then expected.--Cook879 12:23, 27 December 2011 (EST)
- Honestly, I don' think we really need to change anything. Like Cook said, it would overcomplicate things. And besides, it says right at the top of each of those pages wether or not it is an actual country or whatever. I would say, just make an extra section in the countries template for territories, partly recognized countries, etc. Kind of like how the towns and cities template has a section for cities in the US and a section for cities elsewhere. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 18:19, 27 December 2011 (EST)
