History
After Homer decided to drive Red Barclay's shipment to Atlanta, he and Bart were behind schedule, needing to drive 2200 miles in 10 hours. Homer decided to stop into a small shop to get some pep pills, so he could drive all night. He asked the clerk for something that would keep him "awake, alert and reckless" all night long. The clerk put a bottle on the counter and stated that Congress was "racing back to Washington to outlaw these."
Homer grabs the bottle, exclaiming "sold", and eats most of the pills. The clerk then says that Homer shouldn't eat that many pills at once. Homer replies that he'll "balance it out" with some sleeping pills. He then eats a bottle of those and dashes out of the store, ready to drive all night.
