[[Joe Quimby]] comes to the retirement home fawning for the elderly before the election. [[Abe]] asks him to get their families to start spending time with them, so he introduces "Take your parent to work day". [[Ned]]'s [[Nedward Flanders, Sr.|father]] visit his [[The Leftorium|shop]] for the first time but misunderstands what type of store it is so Ned gives away the merchandise. [[Krusty]] is with his father in the TV show, but his father makes no laughter, although he tries. Homer and Abe is in the nuclear power plant, where Homer takes a nap. Abe then presses on the buttons on the control panel as he wants to listen to the radio. He starts a meltdown but manages to avert it by pushing a random button.

Bart tries to scare Agnes but fails and she exposes herself to him for the same joke but in a much worse way. The next day, Abe comes to his family and presents to them his new wife, Mr. Burns' mother, and when Homer comes to the work he realizes that Mr. Burns is now his brother and they both start having fun together. Unleash the Glavin is a The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror story that appears in The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror #16.

Professor Frink's lab is destroyed and Bart and Frink are arguing whose fault it is. It started during a school trip to the lab where Frink shows his Contactinator, a set-like broadcasting device used in the attempt to contact and communicate with extraterrestrial life forms in the vast reaches of the cosmos. Frink decides to give the class a demonstration. He says into the computer's microphone: "Professor John Frink of Planet Earth Calling all sentient glavin life for friendship and possibly more." When he does not get any answer, the whole class laughs at him.
