Yesterday, on 31st March 2010, Fox Broadcasting Company announced that they were going to axe The Simpsons in its 21st year. The producers decided that after 20 years, enough was enough and The Simpsons was finally going to finish.
This was met with hatred for Matt Groening who then went on to say that he was going to be working solely on the revival of Futurama and this is partially why he decided to axe The Simpsons.
There have been rumors that the cast will also move onto Futurama to voice several new, recurring characters in the series. Matt Groening stated that "this was a sad choice but it had to be done."
